Aave V4 Security Contest

Greetings, Aave community!

The Aave V4 codebase is now moving through an open security review on Sherlock. V4 introduces the Liquidity Hub architecture, dynamic risk premiums, and a modular Spoke framework. These changes reshape how the protocol handles liquidity, interest, collateral quality, and emergency response. Because of the structural impact, it is beneficial to have as many reviewers as possible.

An open contest brings two forms of value. First, it expands coverage beyond the formal audits already underway. Second, it gives the DAO insight to where the developer and security community is focusing its attention. Findings from previous contests have influenced final parameter tuning and risk-surface hardening; expectations here are similar.

The contest is now live:

Anyone who has audited Aave before, or who understands lending-pool mechanics, share-based accounting, and interest-rate logic, will find familiar ground. It is also a chance to work directly through the protocol’s mechanics with other researchers in the Sherlock channels and pressure-test edge cases that matter for V4. The Liquidity Hub consolidates accounting and keeps invariants tight. Spokes handle user interaction and risk configuration. This separation reduces protocol-level attack surface but makes internal invariants more important to verify. The contest repo includes the Hub, the Spokes, the math and liquidation libraries, and the full risk-premium pipeline. Reviewers should expect to examine share-converters, rate-index accrual, Hub–Spoke syncing, oracle read-paths, liquidation paths, and cap checks.

If you have time to participate, or know teams who do, this is a great opportunity. Early scrutiny improves the protocol’s launch surface and lowers the operational load on the DAO once V4 goes live. Participation is limited to KYCed researchers, which helps concentrate review among experienced auditors. Findings will be shared once the contest window closes, making contributions transparent to the community and to future governance reviews. Good hunting!
