AL Development Update | September 2025

Greetings, Aave community!

Aave Labs has continued to make steady progress on multiple protocol endeavors in line with its service provider scope, with Aave V4 development as the primary focus.

The below summary highlights developments in the Aave Protocol and reflects Aave Labs’ transparent and collaborative approach of building in public, welcoming community feedback, and fostering auditability through open-source principles.

September update:

  • Progressed Aave V4: completed private reviews, kicked off public audits, opened code to DAO service providers/Chainlink/Orbit, and scheduled biweekly Office Hours

  • Marked Horizon’s first month live at over $165M TVL and aligned on LlamaGuard NAV safeguards for upcoming assets

  • Announced Aave V3 on Aptos (over $2.5M), increased USDT and APT supply caps, and started the Certora’s audit for GHO following integration with Aave V3

  • Expanded GHO Multichain: launched on Ink, introduced launch abstractions (~90% less code) to enable future automations, and continued Remote GSM and CCIP Bridge reviews

  • Advanced Interface: progressed V4 core flows, completed most V4 SDK endpoints, integrated the Plasma market and incentives, and added a Favorites selector with grouped categories

Aave V4 Updates

We completed a round of private reviews by independent security researchers and kicked off the public round audit reviews, led initially by @Certora and protocol experienced security researchers, with four additional firms queued next and a public contest to potentially follow. On the engineering side, the team shipped code refactors and gas optimizations across core flows to improve performance and maintainability.

We granted codebase access to DAO service providers, Chainlink, and Orbit delegates, to request feedback, facilitate integration analysis, and support broader review. Next, we are starting a bi-weekly Office Hours series with DAO service providers to further discuss next steps, design choices, risk configuration, and integration paths. We also shared several forum posts to consolidate context for the community: The Potential of Aave V4, Aave V4 Development Update, and Aave V4 Roadmap.

What else are we working on?

Horizon’s RWA Instance

Horizon completed its first month live and reached over $165M in TVL, reflecting the fast-growing RWA lending market. We aligned with @LlamaRisk to advance reviews for upcoming asset onboarding. In parallel, The team worked with @LlamaRisk and @Chainlink_Labs to introduce LlamaGuard NAV, a new oracle framework that applies dynamic price bounds and circuit breakers to NAV feeds, adding further safeguards to Horizon’s collateral valuation process.

Aave V3 on Aptos

The official announcement of Aave V3 on Aptos took place, with markets now over $2.5M. Monitoring and tooling continued to improve, and supply caps were increased for USDT and APT. Together with the Aptos team and Metrom, we prepared an incentives campaign. The development phase for GHO on Aptos was completed and integrated with Aave V3, and the first security audit with @Certora for GHO has started.

GHO Multichain Strategy

GHO was launched on Ink. Likewise, we implemented GHO launch abstraction helpers that reduced the code footprint by approximately 90 percent, enabling future automations and faster rollouts for upcoming deployments. To support the launch of GSM instances on remote chains, the team reviewed the Remote GSM and CCIP Bridge implementations by @TokenLogic and provided feedback throughout the associated security reviews.

Interface

Aave V4 Interface

Development on the V4 interface continues to move forward. Our primary focus remains on core transaction flows (supply, borrow, repay, and withdraw) while also ensuring a seamless mobile experience across all pages

Aave Software Development Kit (SDK)

We completed the majority of API endpoints for the Aave V4 SDK, with the remaining endpoints in progress. Once feature work is finalized, we will publish documentation and expand testing to comprehensively cover the new surfaces, targeting readiness for the Aave V4 launch.

Ongoing Integrations

We began reviewing the newly announced Aave v3.6 release to prepare its integration into the Aave Interface upon availability. We integrated the Plasma market and added its incentives campaign in the Aave Interface. In parallel, the team shipped bug fixes and minor enhancements and introduced UX improvements, including a Favorites market selector and grouped categories to simplify navigation, in alignment with ongoing efforts alongside @ACI and @TokenLogic.

What’s coming next?

Our main focus for the coming month will be

  • Continuing V4 security effort, and kicking-off biweekly Office Hours with DAO service providers

  • Advancing Horizon asset onboarding reviews and introducing LlamaGuard NAV safeguards

  • Rolling out the Aptos incentives campaign, continuing the GHO audit, and monitoring market caps

  • Progressing Remote GSM and CCIP Bridge reviews and supporting future GHO expansions

  • Finalizing V4 SDK endpoints and documentation, progressing V4 Interface core flows, and reviewing Aave v3.6 integration

Stay tuned for next month’s update.
